TEXTTOOART is part of a long artistic tradition that understands writing not only as meaning, but also as visual material—from medieval book illumination and calligraphy to Dada/Futurism and Lettrism to Concrete Poetry and Conceptual Art, in which language itself becomes the work of art. At the same time, the project ties in with generative art and information aesthetics: a text is translated into color according to a clear rule, allowing it to be experienced as a visual pattern, rhythm, and mood—similar to ideas of synesthesia (sound/color) in modernism.
Take a moment to experiment with your own texts: congratulations, declarations of love, favorite quotes, banal or scientific—long or just one line. Have fun!
TEXTTOOART steht in einer langen Kunsttradition, die Schrift nicht nur als Bedeutung, sondern als Bildmaterial versteht – von mittelalterlicher Buchmalerei und Kalligrafie über Dada/Futurismus und Lettrismus bis zur Konkreten Poesie und Conceptual Art, in der Sprache selbst zum Werk wird.
Zugleich knüpft das Projekt an Generative Art und Information Aesthetics an: Ein Text wird nach einer klaren Regel in Farbe übersetzt und dadurch als visuelles Muster, Rhythmus und Stimmung erfahrbar – ähnlich wie bei Synästhesie-Ideen (Klang/Farbe) in der Moderne.
Nehmen Sie sich kurz Zeit und experimentieren Sie mit eigenen Texten: Glückwünsche, Liebeserklärungen, Lieblingssätze, Banales oder Wissenschaftliches – lang oder nur eine Zeile. Viel Spaß !
